Abstract

Three new species of echinoid jaws or Aristotle's lanterns from the Mississippian Keokuk formation of central Missouri and the Pennsylvanian Winterset and Topeka formations of northwestern Missouri are described. Previously described species from the Carboniferous are illustrated. The new species Echinocrinus? remotus and E. jacksoni from the Pennsylvanian and Lepidesthes? martini from the Mississippian are described. The lanterns are assigned to these genera with question because of insufficient number of lanterns described from the upper Paleozoic with which these new species can be compared.
