Abstract

Pennsylvanian, Permian, and Triassic Charophyta from North America are described and figured, A new organ-genus, Catillochara, is named to include all Paleozoic gyrogonites with 5 sinistral spirals. Representatives of Catillochara have been collected from 15 localities in Ohio, Missouri and Kansas. One new species of Stellatochara is named from 2 localities of the Lower Triassic of Arizona and Colorado. Palaeochara acadica Bell, 1922, from the Pennsylvanian of Nova Scotia, is redescribed and illustrated.
