Abstract

The faunal range tab system consists of an index sheet containing a stratigraphic column on the right-hand margin of the page, plus a series of additional sheets, each containing an illustration and description of a zone fossil, with a range tab on the right-hand margin the position of which is correlated with a defined stratigraphic interval on the index sheet, and the length of which is proportionate to the geologic range of the faunal element. The system is recommended as a useful teaching or research aid for compiling paleontologic and stratigraphic information.
