Abstract

Ten psychodid flies are recorded from late Oligocene-early Miocene amber of the Simojovel area, Chiapas, Mexico, making a total of 12 fossil psychodids known in the western hemisphere. The species are assigned to Trichomyia (5), Phlebotomus (1), Telmatoscopus (1), Philosepedon (2), and Psychoda (1). All have the general features of existing species and there is little indication of major evolutionary change since the mid-Tertiary.
