Abstract

Two foraminiferal localities designated as Cretaceous or early Tertiary by C. G. Ehrenberg ("Mikrogeologie", 1854)--one near Mesagros, Aegina, Greece; the other south of Cattolica Eraclea, Sicily, Italy--are Pliocene in age. With the exception of Planulina membranacea (Globorotalia membranacea), all the names used by Ehrenberg for foraminifera from those localities have lapsed.
