The tabulate coral, Chaetetes, has been found in the Tensleep formation [Pennsylvanian] at its type locality and at several other places in Wyoming. On the basis of identified fusulinids associated with it in central Wyoming (though none were found in the type section), the fossil is probably of lower Des Moinesian age. At this age assignment, it is of the same age as it is considered to be in the midcontinent, and younger than its occurrence farther W.
