Abstract

The ictalurid catfish, Ictalurus decorus (Hay), is redescribed on the basis of material collected in Bennett County, South Dakota. The species was previously known from a single pectoral spine from the Garvin Gully locality in Texas; the new material includes a well preserved neurocranium and several more spines. A brief review of the fossil catfishes of North America is included.
