Abstract

A few moderately well preserved ammonoid fragments from the Sierra Madre Oriental of southwestern Tamaulipas represent a known Atokan species, Pseudoparalegoceras amotapense (Thomas). These are the first such fossils of this age between central Texas, some 500 mi. N., and where the species was first described, over 2,500 mi. SE. in northern Peru. Associated fauna includes another goniatite, Eoasianites sp., and a primitive fusulinid, Fusulinella sp.
