Abstract

"A new area of Ordovician rocks has been discovered in the lowland area of northeastern Peru. A graptolite fauna of middle Ordovician age, from the Contaya hills east of the Ucayali river, is of extraordinary interest for the light it sheds on the regional structure and stratigraphy. The fauna is related to the zone of Didymograptus murchisoni, upper Llanvirnian, lower Chazyian, and clearly corresponds to similar faunas of southern Peru and northern Bolivia."
