Abstract
Palynological and micropalaeontological evidence is employed to correlate the beds adjacent to the Paleocene/Eocene boundary in the Anglo-Paris Basin. The base of the Sables de Cuise Inférieurs (Cuisian s.l) and of the Ypresian are contemporaneous; the base of the Eocene should be taken at this level. The position of the Blackheath and Oldhaven Beds relative to this boundary remains uncertain. The Sparnacian and Thanetian Zone III of the Paris Basin belong to the same dinocyst zone and correlate with the Woolwich Beds of England. The Thanetian Zone II correlates with the Thanet Sands.
A new dinocyst species, Wetzeliella astra, is described.
