Two narrow E-W trending zones of late Eocene compressional deformation, one on the northern margin of the Bay of Biscay, the other in the southern Porcupine Seabight, are described. Both appear to follow pre-existing geological lineaments. The deformation is related to the NW movement of Iberia between latest Cretaceous and Late Eocene time.
