Dr M. D. Brasier asked: Can the authors say what the the evidence is for a late Precambrian age and also whether they have seen any glauconite in the sequence?

The Authors replied: The age is clearly indicated by general geology of the area (see Trompette et al. 1980, in references), and also by geochronological determinations (see Bozhko 1969; Clauer 1976). We did find any glauconite in these sequences; the iron is in pyrite in the non-oxidized part of the deposit, and in iron-oxides in the weathered part.
