A paper focusing on the Tertiary intraplate strike-slip tectonics of Sardinia by Oggianoet alii (2009) recently appeared on the Italian Journal of Geosciences. In our opinion the paper overemphasizes the Oligocene-Aquitanian strike-slip tectonics, and minimizes the importance of the Eocene tectonics. Dating Cenozoic ruditic deposits of Sardinia such as the Cuccuru ’e Flores Conglomerate (CFC) is of crucial importance for the reconstruction of the Palaeogene geodynamic history of the island.
