Since the introduction of seismic amplitude variation with angle/offset (AVA/AVO) analysis in the 1970s and the presentation of Ostrander’s classic paper at the 1982 Society of Exploration Geophysicists Annual International Meeting and later appearing in Geophysics (Ostrander, 1982, 1984), AVA/AVO has become a fundamental component of the seismic exploration toolkit.
