In recent years, industry has shown an increased interest in onshore exploration. A focus of this interest has been in the foothills portion of fold and thrust belts. These structural complex areas present perhaps the greatest current challenge for onshore seismic acquisition, processing, and interpretation. The uncertainties in foothills exploration can be reduced by integrating new technologies, including seismic acquisition design, seismic simulation, data processing, structural velocity building, advanced imaging, inversion, and interpretations.
