In the first special section on detection of hydrocarbons in the November 2014 issue there was a splendid paper on bright spots offshore India, and bright spots are the easiest and most reliable direct detection method available. Regrettably, most bright spots have been found, so we must turn to other more difficult methods of detection. This special section, a sequel to the first, presents approaches based on dim spots, spectral decomposition, and phase decomposition.
