Gravity and magnetic data have been widely used to interpret features in the Earth’s lithosphere. These data can be used to identify natural hazards (e.g., faults and intrusions), to explore for natural resources (e.g., water, petroleum, minerals, and geothermal), and to study crustal-scale structures for understanding the tectonic development of a region. This special section collates examples of recent methodological advances and interesting case studies of the use of these data for exploration purposes.
