Selected passages, typical of Agassiz’s teaching of geology and paleontology, are presented from his students’ notes to illustrate what he was teaching at the Museum of Comparative Zoology during the period of 1856-61. Included are remarks on coral reefs, ancient rocks, geological periods, fossil records, mountain building, and river valleys. Personal comments are also included.
