Llandovery (Lower Silurian) crinoids are rare in the British Isles. The oldest articulated crinoids from the Silurian of Scotland are from the Newlands Formation (upper Rhuddanian or lower Aeronian) of Rough Neuk Quarry, near Girvan, Ayrshire. Articulated crinoid arms of a taxon new to this site are interpreted to be a cladid sp. indet. Comparison with other Silurian cladids is inconclusive, but the Rough Neuk specimen may be close to Dendrocrinus.
