Summary
The paper presents a comprehensive account of the occurrence and distribution of groundwater in Northern Ireland, relating location of potential groundwater sources to the position of the aquifers in the stratigraphical column. Future developments in the management field are reviewed and an appendix provides a discussion of the past legislative history in Northern Ireland with regard to the control of water resources.
