Drs A. C. Bishop and A. E. Mourant write: Duff (Journal135, 153–6) interpreted a Rb–Sr whole-rock isochron date of 533 ± 16 Ma, obtained on specimens of the Jersey Andesite Formation from Westmount Quarry, near St. Relier, as representing the age of initial crystallization of the rock, and drew conclusions therefrom which affect the interpretation of the history of Cadomian deformation of the northern part of the Massif Armoricain, including the Channel Islands. New isotopic data for these rocks are welcome, for the precise temporal position of the Jersey volcanic rocks is still unclear....
