Cover: A lava breakout from the margin of the 2011–2012 Cordón Caulle rhyolite lava flow. The Cordón Caulle lava flow was the first rhyolite lava flow to be scientifically observed during its emplacement. It was also the first time that breakouts have been observed forming from a rhyolite lava flow. The article within this volume classifies the morphologies of the breakouts and discusses the processes that led to their formation.
