Pillow-like features in greenstone on the shore of Sakami Lake resemble slightly metamorphosed lava pillows. Present disaggregation of bedrock by live mosses, the pattern of distribution of mosses, similarity of moss distribution pattern and inter-pillow weathered zones, and orientations of glacial striations establish that the pseudo-pillows are probably the result of disintegration of bedrock by growth of mosses along two intersecting sets of glacial striations.
