Abstract
The Alvord Valley in southeast Oregon has considerable geothermalpower potential (Groh, 1966; Godwin and others, 1971; White and Williams, 1975; Muffler, 1979). The Mickey Springs system is estimated to have an electrical potential of 160 megawatts for a life of 30 yr, and Alvord Springs and Borax Lake to the south are estimated to have 49 and 91 megawatts, respectively (Muffler, 1979). By comparison, the Geysers in California have a potential of 1,610 megawatts for 30 yr.
