Abstract
Reconnaissance seismic-refraction data suggest that the Kodiak shelf is underlain by an ancient shelf-break structural high, which we believe formed during late Paleogene time. During the late Miocene or Pliocene, the present shelf-break structures began to grow on the slope about 45 km seaward of the old high. In the central part of the shelf, between two shelf basins, the old high underlies a structural zone that is composed of numerous reverse faults; the structural zone may be due to rejuvenation of the old shelf-break high.
