Abstract

Thin, concentric, circular to ovoid structures occurring in the Nama System in South West Africa, support the conclusion that some problematic concentric structures in the geologic column have an organic origin. They are, however, of algal and not of metazoan origin, as already suggested by Glaessner (1969) for such structures from the Grand Canyon Supergroup.
