Abstract

A series of earthquake epicenters express an apparent northeast-southwest trend in the ocean off Pt. Arguello. Other features on the ocean floor nearby and faulting inland indicate that the epicenter reports are accurate. At least one large quake has been reported in this zone (7.5 magnitude, 1927). Activity of the slowly moving type along the Murray may induce this activity. The San Andreas fault may also be involved.
