Recorded field evidence and new isotopic data from Thailand both show that the granites northeast of the Gulf of Thailand are mainly Triassic or older. Published and unpublished radiometric investigations on granites from the Malay-Thai peninsula reveal widespread Cretaceous to Tertiary activity, including some granite emplacement, which is possibly related to epeirogenic movements. These interpretations differ significantly from those of Hilde and Engel (1967), who report a zone of Late Cretaceous granites along the northeastern coast of the Gulf of Thailand.
