Abstract

Apparently anomalous field relationships between coarse metaconglomerate containing granitic clasts and underlying granite are clarified by evidence that: (1) while the clasts closely resemble the granite megascopically, modal analyses show that most of them are unrelated plutonic rocks; and (2) there is a mineralogically and texturally distinct margin of the granite that is interpreted as a chilled border.
