Abstract

A new species of Dictyonema from dolomitic sandstones close to the top of the Bucks Bridge Formation from a locality in the town of Potsdam, New York, is described; associated discoidal gastropods suggest a Tremadoc age. Ecological interpretation shows that this dendroid was sessil-benthonic in clusters or “gardens” in a relatively shallow-water littoral environment, the bottom containing numerous tubes apparently formed by a tunneling organism.
