Abstract
The Eocene Meridian Sand of Mississippi and Alabama contains abundant large subhedral to anhedral flakes of muscovite (2M). K-Ar age determinations of the muscovite yield ages of 290 ± 6 and 308 ± 6 million years. The Meridian muscovite is detrital and was probably derived from the Appalachian Mountains to the east.
