Abstract

Silurian strata are well exposed at Price's Falls in the central part of the Arbuckle Mountains of south-central Oklahoma. The Silurian lithostratigraphic and biostratigraphic divisions of the Hunton Group are represented in their characteristic lithologic expression: Henryhouse Formation and Clarita, Cochrane, and Keel-Ideal Quarry members of the Chimneyhill Formation. The unconformable relationship of the Keel, Cochrane, and Clarita is well shown in this outcrop. These units are correlated with Silurian strata in southwestern Illinois and southeastern Missouri. The faunas of the Henryhouse and Cochrane furnish the most reliable evidence for correlating the Oklahoma section with the Silurian strata in Wales, Great Britain.
