Abstract

Scientists on the Coast and Geodetic Survey Ship Explorer discovered and investigated an “atoll-like” bank rising from nearly 1000 fms to 15 fms about 95 miles off the Caribbean coast of Honduras. A towed magnetometer showed that the primarily calcareous bank has a core of igneous origin.
