Abstract
The Society was called to order at 2 o’clock p m, in room 104, Department of Arts, University of Pennsylvania, President N. S. Shaler in the chair. The President made a few remarks of salutation, and introduced the administrative business of the meeting by a call for the report of the Council. This was submitted in print by the Secretary and copies were distributed to the Fellows.
To the Geological Society of America, in Eighth Annual Meeting assembled:
The Council has held its stated meetings during the past year, in connection with the meetings of the Society, at Baltimore and at Springfield. The affairs of the Society are in good condition, and the Council has no special business or recommendations to present.
