An airborne magnetometer survey was made in conjunction with a mineral survey in several townships in the northwestern part of Maine. The resulting geological map (PI. 1) with superimposed total magnetic intensity variations is presented as a correlation of the character of magnetic response with different rock types in an area of widely diversified geologic features, such as is commonly the case in areas of mineral deposition. Additions and modifications were made to the knowledge of the geology of the area, the most interesting of which was the placing of a large area of granite unconformably below a section of Siluro-Devonian sediments.
