Experimental results in systems which contain both nonvolatile and volatile components, and in which the vapor phase is complex, are needed to increase our knowledge of processes considered to be of importance in ore deposition. The major difficulty in such a study is one of technique. An apparatus has been constructed which makes possible the separation and independent analysis of liquid and vapor phases.

The new apparatus has been tested in a study of the system H2O—CO2—K2O—SiO2, the results of which are presented in tables and curves.
