The first general session of the Society was called to order at 9.38 o’clock a. m., Saturday, December 28, at Lampson Hall, Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, by President Fairchild, who introduced Prof. L. Y. Pirsson, who in turn welcomed the visiting geologists in the name of Yale University.
After making certain announcements the Secretary presented in printed form the annual report of the Council, as follows:
