The Society was called to order by the President, N. H. Winchell, at 10 o’clock a m, in the room of the Division of Illustrations, on the second floor of the United States Geological Survey building, where all the sessions of the meeting were held except the evening session of this day.
Dr Charles D. Walcott, Director of the United States Geological Survey, made an informal address of welcome, to which the President responded.
The report of the Council was called for and was presented by the Secretary, in print, as follows:
