We find the comments of Torres-Alvarado and Verma to be tangential to the themes presented in Blatter et al. (2001), and feel that this is yet another effort by Verma and collaborators to refute a subduction-related origin for the Mexican Volcanic Belt; however, we welcome the opportunity to reply with some comments of our own.
