Figure 2 suggests that the Boxer/Cortina petrofacies boundary is at the base of the Yolo Formation and that the Cortina/Rumsey petrofacies boundary is within the Guinda Formation, when in fact the Rumsey petrofacies extends down to the base of the Guinda Formation and the Cortina petrofacies includes the Venado Formation. This confusion is an artifact of combining a petrofacies column that presents a statistically determined summary of the timing of the petrofacies boundaries for the entire Great Valley with columns that show the timing of stratigraphic units in one location (e.g., Cache Creek).
