The article by Lehmann et al. (1999) is a welcome addition to the literature on Cretaceous rocks of northern Mexico. It contains a wealth of data; the implications for the stratigraphy of Texas and other regions will require time to digest. However, unfortunate terminology in the title and in the paper calls for immediate comment.

The Cupido Limestone is a lithofacies of the Coahuila provincial series (Smith, 1970, p. 16–19, and references therein). The Lehman et al. (1999) usage of “Cupido platform” actually means “carbonate rocks formed on the Coahuila platform during the deposition of the Coahuila Series.”...
