I agree with Ingersoll that isopach data for many Mesozoic units in New Mexico provide ambiguous piercing-line constraints for subsequent Laramide lateral offsets. These ambiguities are clearly stated in Cather (1999). Ingersoll is incorrect, however, in his assertions that all Mesozoic data can be interpreted to support little or no Laramide dextral offset in the southern Rocky Mountains.
