Data & Figures
Model results (longitudinal river profiles) for three different scenarios. A: Modern system with a change in diffusion coefficient at a slope of 0.007910, accounting for meandering channels on lower slopes. B: Prevegetation system with the same diffusion coefficient at all gradients; note higher proportion of high-gradient deposits. C: Prevegetation system with imposed reduction on maximum rate of floodplain deposition; note the great reduction in the proportion of deposits with low gradients. Longitudinal distance = 40 km; diffusion coefficient for braided case = 0.105878; diffusion coefficient for meandering case = 0.24489. Maximum rate of floodplain deposition: two first models = 0.02 m per step, third model = 0.01 m per step. Total of 700 steps per run.
