Abstract
Aeromagnetic and aeroradioactivity maps of the Alabama Piedmont province and parts of the Valley and Ridge province and the East Gulf Coastal Plain appear to correlate very well with most major geologic features in the area. Major lithologic units, fault zones, and other contacts are discernible on one or both of the geophysical maps. Basement lithology and structure can be reliably interpreted in areas where the crystalline magnetic “basement” rocks are covered by nonmagnetic sedimentary or low-rank metamorphic rocks.
