We thank Harris et al. for the opportunity to further document and discuss our conclusion that certain mafic and ultramafic rocks in the western Brooks Range originated within an extensional setting on a continental shelf. Harris et al. state that we evaluated a “rooted versus ophiolitic mafic and ultramafic rocks” model. Instead, we evaluated the thick versus thin three-dimensional geometry of these rocks and do not believe any particular geometry is indicative of ophiolite.
