We thank Brown and Bourlès for their careful reading and appreciate the opportunity to reply. Their main argument is that significant erosion could lead to misidentification of the Santa Cruz marine terrace ages. We review the evidence against this from the field setting, and further expand on that portion of our method designed specifically to test for the effects of erosion. The terrace ages deduced from our cosmogenic radionuclide (CRN) measurements were a surprise to us as well, but their self-consistency and ability to pass a battery of tests lends confidence to our interpretation.
