The paleolatitude (λpal) of any site on a plate can be calculated from the coordinates of the paleomagnetic pole by the formula λpal = sin λs · sin λp + cos λs · cos λp · cos δ, where λs and λp are the present latitudes of the site and pole, respectively, and δ is the difference in longitude between the site and the paleomagnetic pole.
