Variations with time of the amplitude of the eustatic transgressions and regressions during the last 17,000 yr reflect world glacial changes. Prior to 7,000 absolute yr BP, a continuous vanishing of the North American and European continental ice caps is recorded, broken by a drastic melting increase at 10,000 BP, the Pleistocene-Holocene boundary. After 7,000 BP, the increased and oscillating amplitude variations indicate the influence of melting of the Antarctic and (or) Greenland ice caps.
