Searle disagrees with our use of the most precise age obtained so far for the Tso Morari eclogites and argues that the uncertainties in our age estimates when taken individually would allow for contemporaneity between eclogitization and Barrovian metamorphism. We maintain, however, that since the age determinations we presented (de Sigoyer et al., 2000) are statistically independent, it is legitimate to calculate their weighted average, which is 55 ± 6 Ma.
