Stinnesbeck et al. refer to some stratigraphic features they have observed in the Cretaceous-Tertiary (K-T) boundary outcrops around the Gulf of Mexico as well as in Guatemala, Cuba, and Belize (Stinnesbeck et al., 1998) which according to them indicate that the Chicxulub structure and associated ejecta are not of K-T boundary age. Their observations and interpretations differ drastically from ours and from those of most other workers who have examined these same sections (e.g., Fourcade et al., 1998; Smit et al., 1994; Takayama et al., 1999).
